Problem(s) Fixed

This IM3 V1.1 Mail Service patch contains performance enhancements

and the following fixes:

1. Restoring a single mailbox in Vines Assistant (VA 3.04)

works properly.

SPR: 1016970

2. The mail service no longer cores sporadically when the

janitor runs.

SPR: 1016881

3. Optimizes the mail service so that it is more efficient and

makes fewer disk accesses when retrieving envelope fields

for an API request.

SPR: 1017087

4. Empty mailbox no longer displays 3001 error message.

SPR: 1016811

5. A mail service query on user defined fields works properly.

SPR: 1017090

6. Renaming a mailbox works properly.

SPR: 1017215, 1017505

7. Renaming a mailbox into a mailbox that already exists is allowed.

SPR: 1016289

8. Certified messages from users with certain international characters

will not create garbage in the Beyond Mail 'Received by' field.

SPR: 1017416

9. Performance has been improved for local delivery of messages.

SPR: 1017432

10. Double byte characters are now supported for the double-byte

version of BeyondMail.

SPR: 1017415

11. The folder database design has been changed to use a single

database

per mail service. This decreases the overhead required to update

folder information.

SPR: 1017779

12. Folder names and counts are now properly updated after a rename

folder and upon a restore of an earlier version of IM3.

SPR: 1017629

13. The sender of a message now receives notification when that message

is sent through a gateway and subsequently deleted from the mail

service queues.

SPR: 1016325

14. Improves efficiency of the Mail transfer agent (MTA) by reducing

disk I/O during message resolution and requiring less frequent cost

table updates when there is a high number of network events.

SPR: 1018355

15. The Banyan Mail service (BMS) no longer cores when using BeyondMail

2.2b.

SPR: 1018361

16. The BanyanMail service (BMS) no longer consumes all idle CPU time.

SPR: 1017975

17. When BeyondMail is used and it strips off the ATTRIBS.BND

attachment from a message, the mail service now deletes it

properly so that it does not get sent along when the message

is delivered.

SPR: 1018442

18. The mail service no longer panics when sending a message with

attachments to a gateway built with toolkit revision 4.0 or

earlier.

SPR: 1018713

19. The mail service no longer panics when sending an

MS_MAILBOX_CHANGE alert.

SPR: 1018714

20. The mail service now stops searching for messages in a mailbox

after

detecting a corrupted envelope database.

SPR: 1018712

21. Sending certified messages through an SMTP or X.400 gateway no

longer causes a Mail Service Panic 8.

SPR: 1018942

22. The Resolve queue no longer retains messages having an addressee

field that contains illegal characters, or an invalid number of

characters in the item, group, or organization portion of the

StreetTalk name.

SPR: 1018587

23. Establishes Mail Service attributes <7:70> and <7:71> to allow the

Mail Service to cache aliases for the names of destination mail

services used in REM addresses. Enabling this cache reduces the

number of StreetTalk lookups the Mail Service makes when processing

force-routed messages. By default these attributes are not set and

the cache is inactive. Activate the REM alias cache if your mail

service sends frequent force-routed messages. Attribute <7:70>

activates the cache and determines the number of aliases to cache.

Attribute <7:71> sets the time in minutes names remain in the

cache.

Refer to Technical Bulletin 356 for more information about

configuring this attribute.

SPR: 1018700

24. Establishes Mail Service attribute <7:13> to allow the Mail Service

to override a user's unrestricted ability to send messages to

wildcard addresses in certain cases.Refer to Technical Bulletin 356

for information about configuring this attribute.
